On 2 May, Sentura Group employees had the pleasure of presenting a cheque for more than £2,500 to the Brain Tumour Research charity.

The funds were raised as part of the company's ‘Wear a Hat’ day, which took place on 24 March, when each member of the team wore their chosen hat/s throughout the day in support of the  charity and asked its customers and suppliers to support them by donating via its Just Giving page

Laurie Pollard, Managing Partner at Sentura Group commented:  ‘We are delighted to have reached our fundraising target and would like to thank everyone that donated.  We wanted to raise money and awareness for the Brain Tumour Research charity, as they get very limited support from the Government for this. We all know someone whose life has been affected by brain tumours and cancer, and we want to make a difference for them and to those who will have it in the future’.

This was the sixth year of the Wear a Hat day initiative. It is the premier brain tumour awareness event in the UK, and a culmination of Brain Tumour Awareness month which helps to support long-term, life-saving research.  According to Brain Tumour Research, 16,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour each year.  Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
