This year’s National Apprenticeship Week runs from 8 – 14th February with the theme of ‘Build the Future’. Its aim is to encourage young people, parents, and teachers to consider how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and employers to build a workforce with future ready skills.
The 14th annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships, taking place across England showcases the impact apprenticeships can have on communities, local businesses, and regional economies and how they can all benefit from the impact of apprenticeships.
Sentura’s two apprentices, Olivia Stevenson, and Emily Russ, have both been studying Business Administration with the Rutland Adult Learning and Skills Service (RALSS) in partnership with Stamford College since they joined the business in September 2019.
Speaking from an employer perspective, Managing Director Laurie Pollard said; ‘Olivia & Emily are our first two apprentices within Sentura Group, and I couldn’t be more pleased with how they are developing their workplace skills and contributing to the performance of the business. Sentura believes in continuous training and development of all employees as demonstrated by our recent Investors in People Gold award and the apprenticeship scheme is one part of our plan to retain skilled and knowledgeable employees’.
Olivia, Sentura’s Marketing Apprentice commented; “When going into my apprenticeship role, I was unsure of what to expect. However, now I am well through my apprenticeship I feel my overall business knowledge has grown massively as well as being more comfortable and confident with various tasks within the workplace. My apprenticeship has made me more inquisitive about my workplace and from this I have learnt a lot that I potentially wouldn’t have without it.’
Customer Care Apprentice, Emily added; “Having never had a job before and coming straight from sixth form I wanted expand my knowledge further and that is when I decided to do an apprenticeship as I knew University wasn’t for me. Having spent over a year now as an apprentice with Sentura Group I would highly recommend to anyone that is considering an apprenticeship to go for it as it has allowed me to expand my knowledge whilst being within the workplace”.
