Making the world
a safer place

At Firechief we have a vision of a world where people can live and work free from the fear of fire. Operating from our Head Office in Rutland and Global Distribution Centre in Birmingham, we work with an extensive network of distributors, customers, industry contacts and specialists, and hold stock of up to half a million products at any one time, available for immediate dispatch.

The Firechief brand - What really makes us different?

In a competitive, constantly evolving marketplace, fire safety is all about trust and peace of mind. As a 3rd generation family-run business, five core attributes set Firechief's team and offer apart:

ASSURED

Third-party accreditations and expert independent testing

As a BSI Kitemark licence holder for over 25 years, every fire safety product we sell is guaranteed fit for purpose. Where regulatory and certification standards exist, we will meet or often exceed them. Where standards are not yet available, we submit to independent testing and scrutiny by category safety experts.

SUSTAINABLE

Commitment to creating a better, greener world

Fire safety extends to protecting the environment, too. This includes the way we do business, the chemicals we use and how we serve our customers' needs. As a SEDEX member, we are on a journey and constantly looking for ways to reduce our impact on the wider world around us.

INNOVATIVE

Pioneering research and development solving unresolved risks and threats

New risks are constantly emerging and traditional solutions become obsolete. Whether it is proven solutions for lithium-ion battery fire risks or earth-friendly chemicals for reducing flammability, Firechief is committed to re-imagining the use of established technologies to create new, effective options.

PLAIN-SPEAKING

Demystifying fire safety and best practice with accuracy and truth

Fire safety is a complex subject, and it is our aim to simplify it whenever we can. However, when it comes to fire-fighting efficacy, there is never 'one size fits all'. We have a strong sense of conscience and don't blur lines to secure market share. We are committed to sharing practical, understandable advice, based on established best practice, for every application.

CUSTOMER FIRST

Passionately service-centric delivering exceptional customer experiences

With a Net Promoter Score of 70%, our business serves a growing community of loyal customers who keep buying and referring others, fuelling growth for both us and our trade partners. As one of our customers put it, 'You are a team of friendly experts that keep their promises. A rarity in today's world.'

Our cultural values

Our culture is our most valued and guarded asset. This is what is wired into our DNA. Culture is so much more than a poster on a wall or a page on a website. It is the 'how' that will determine our success in the long run.

It was not created overnight but has been growing with us since we started out with our current team back in 2000. It has taken teamwork and collaboration to get it out of the heart of the team into a document that can be shared and developed. The seven values below define the 'Firechief Culture'. They help to identify what differentiates the Firechief OneTeam from any other team - and what it takes to fit here and how your contribution today can impact tomorrow.

  • 1 Drive for growth and success
  • 2 Be creative and embrace change
  • 3 Act with integrity
  • 4 Work hard and make an impact
  • 5 Have fun and live the family spirit
  • 6 Be humble
  • 7 Create WOW

Corporate social responsibility

We regularly support and take part in charity events in both the fire industry and our local community.

Quality and compliance

Achieving ISO9001 approval every year since 1999, as well as holding a licence for the prestigious British Kite Mark and the internationally respected BRE LPCB mark, Firechief is committed to quality and upholding the highest standards in business.

We are also committed to doing everything we can to reduce our carbon footprint and cut needless energy consumption.  Our commitment to this has been recognised with our commitment towards ISO 14001 and as a SEDEX member, we are on a journey and constantly looking for ways to reduce our impact on the wider world around us.  This includes ensuring that all filming forming foams in Firechief extinguishers are PFAS free and developing a unique environmentally friendly cardboard headcap protector for our XTR and CTX extinguishers.

Our history

From the first fire blanket in a garden shed, to a national distribution centre and head office with thousands of products, Firechief has always been led by a passion for protecting people and places.

1963

Our first fire blanket was created in 1963 under the 'Homesaver' brand.

1985

By 1985 the market had grown and the first British Standard for fire blankets was launched (BS6575).

1997

In 1997 the 'Homesaver' fire blanket achieved the BSI Kitemark accreditation to BSEN1869, and the company was ISO9001 certified by BSI.

1999

The range was expanded in 1999 to include fire extinguishers - our bread and butter!

2000

In 2000 the Sentura Group family partnership, whose founding partner GL Pollard had been with Homesaver for 24 years, acquired Homesaver Fire and Safety Equipment, and by 2003, the company was expanding at such a scale that the company invested in a new warehouse in High Wycombe.

2008

The Firechief brand was created in 2008 when the fully certified Firechief fire extinguisher range was launched.

2010

In 2010, the ISO14001 environmental standard was awarded to recognise the company's work and environmental standards.

2011-2012

Sentura Group invested in a new National Distribution centre in Grimsby and Head Office in Rutland in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

2014-2016

The Fire Depot brand was born in 2014 and by 2016 a new National Distribution centre was established in Birmingham.

2019

In 2019, the third generation of the Pollard family joined the business, continuing the legacy of development and innovation.

2020

To the company and employee's delight, the company was awarded Investors in People Gold status in 2020 - recognising the care and effort that goes into the company culture.

2023

In 2023, the team celebrated 60 years of the original fire blanket and unveiled plans to consolidate the brands, merging Fire Depot and Sentura Group with Firechief Global.  We were also awarded Investors in People Gold again for our company culture.

Throughout it's rich and varied history, the Firechief ethos has always been, and remains, to develop and deliver fire prevention and suppression products and accessories to make the world a safer place while nurturing customers and employees.
