Earlier in the year, a number of the Sentura team used their volunteer days to support their local community. This time it was the turn of our brilliant Senior Technical Consultant, Matt Humby!

Part of the 2023 charity initiative, employees were given the chance to use a day of paid leave to volunteer at a charity of their choice. Members of the finance and marketing teams have already used their days to volunteer at Peppers - a safe place, and Oakham Canal Green Corridor Project (you can read more about them here) while Matt chose to spend the day at Thornham Estate.

Thornham Estate stretches across 2,000 acres of parkland, farmland and woodland, providing a safe haven for wildlife, championing conservation schemes, and hosting a variety of walks and activities for all its visitors.

Matt spent the day in the grounds getting his hands dirty prepping the area for the mini beast haven. He was part of the group effort to create a welcome area and put up an informative board to help others understand what the area is for and the importance of the mini beasts!

The estate contains a multitude of walking routes which are accessible to the public and requires constant upkeep - that's why volunteers like Matt are essential to keep nature and the visitors coexisting in perfect harmony.

After a day of volunteering, Matt enjoyed a bite to eat in the glorious woodland with the other helpers - very well deserved!

Sustainability and community values are at the heart of what we do here at Sentura, that's why we've encouraged every member of our team to take part in a volunteer day in 2023.
